Hey Guys (and Gals),
Wanted to make you aware of something that's happening in Niagara USA that would be of extreme interest of anglers, hunters and general outdoors enthusiasts. The Greater Niagara Fishing and Outdoor Expo, set for Jan. 23-25, 2015, will be in its second year. The direction the show is taking is a huge focus on angling education and the outdoors in general. For example, there will be more than 100 seminars on fishing, thanks to a new "fishing academy" for all aspects of angling here in WNY and Southern Ontario - our shared resources. Cost is just admission - $8. Check out this little blurb:
Greater Niagara Region Fishing Academy – Anglers of all ages and levels of experience should take advantage of the Greater Niagara Fishing and Outdoor Expo’s huge commitment to Fishing education, focusing on the Great Lakes angling experience in our backyard. This unique "Fishing Academy" will consist of over 100 fishing-related seminars put on by over 50 local and regional experts who fish the World Class angling waters in Western New York and Southern Ontario – starting with the Niagara River, Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. The seminars (held in the state-of-the-art Conference and Event Center of Niagara Falls, a perfect facility for the Academy) will cover such topics as Great Lakes salmon, walleye, bass, trout, musky, steelhead, perch and carp; methods include trolling, drifting, ice fishing, tributary fishing, fly fishing, kayaking fishing; other topics focus on boat rigging and marine electronics. Best of all, the “Fishing Academy” is free with admission to the show! In addition to local experts, some big name headliners will key in on applications pertinent to our waters, such as Matt Straw with In-Fisherman and marine electronics expert Lance Valentine with Walleye 101. Seating is limited and on a first come, first served basis. Our web site at www.niagarafishingexpo.com has the schedule and details for all of the Seminars.
In addition, Charlie Alsheimer, for the foremost experts on whitetail deer and of the world's best wildlife photographers, will be giving a seminar on deer and deer hunting, as well as photography on Friday, opening day (Jan. 23). There will be other seminars, too.
The Lake Ontario Trout and Salmon Assn. (LOTSA) will be holding its popular salmon school on Jan. 24 (it's a separate full-day session focusing on salmon and trout fishing in Lake O. with three well-known experts) that you have to sign up separately for. The LOTSA Lake O. Marketplace on Sunday is a show within a show, some 60 tables of new and used gear and lots of the lake's experts to talk fish and fishing. It's free with admission into the show for $8.
There's also a huge focus on kids at the show with a fishing pond, shooting trailer, animals and primate sanctuary to name but a few of the fun filled activities. Check out www.niagarafishingexpo.com. For the LOTSA activities check out www.lotsa.org. If you'd like to get in touch with me, email me at bill@niagara-usa.com. If your club is non-profit, we'll give you a free booth if you aren't selling anything; $100 if you are. Other booths are available for the three days at $400. We need to do some more cross-border communications with our shared resources and this is a great way to start.
Cheers,
Bill, Jr.
