Executive/General Meeting Minutes
June 22, 2015
Present: Tom C., Bruce M., Paul P., Dagmar M., Darryl D., George D., Steve J., Dave M., Jerry M.
1. 1st VP: Darryl (for Mark P.)
- there was a recommendation to change the fall derby prize structure because of the low numbers in the spring derby: 30 boat tickets; 66 family tickets; 134 single tickets; 4 daily tickets.
- donations received for spring derby were $1000; total receipts for spring derby were $12,000.
- there was a suggestion that up to date standings needed to be improved both on the board at the ramp and on the web page.
- we need a standard way of recording weigh-in information from phone calls
- Darryl and Paul volunteered to keep the web page board up to date for the summer and fall derby
2. 2nd VP: Bruce
- need stain for deck and tables
- roof of clubhouse got repaired
- our pens are now inside a locked fenced area at the ramp
- we need to clean up the waste piled up from the ramps
- our yard close to the fence needs cleaning up
- Tom/Bruce contact City of St. Catharines regarding the property cleanup around Rickards Rd.(Waterfront Trail)
- there was a suggestion to train other executive to help with the ramp when required
3. Treasurer: Tom (2 pages attached)
- financial report: Balance Sheet
- total current assets: $75,742.62
- total current liabilities: $3,214.70
- profit/loss report
- total income: $32,602.44
- total expense: $17,781.44
- net income: $14,956.00
4. Pens/Tackle Share: Jerry M.
- Jerry has been cross checking the data recorded locally with the online data
- we have been guaranteed the use of the online data recorders for 5 years
- we will change the sensors in the recorders for next year
- we will add a security camera for next year
- our hand held unit got dunked underwater and was out of commission several days
- someone broke the tip on the end of the handheld DO meter and will need repairing or replacing
- Dave may be able to get one cheaper through the university; he will get a price for Jerry
- our fry were an avg. of 8.2 g when released; they were 3.7g when received
- the avg. release weight of all pens on L. ON was 8.2g
- we still need volunteers to help get the docks and pens in and out of the water
5. Kids Day: Dagmar
- her est. of balance for next year: $4796
- Tom’s est. from financials: $4400
- we need more advertising to get the word out
- the closing of the 2 piers caused many families to cancel coming to Kids Day
- Janet Slade will not take over next year
- Janet from 7-11 store will take over with Dagmar to help
- Steve will bring down some mulch for the flower beds
- thank you letters will be sent out
- ask all members to ask for donations from businesses that they know
- Dagmar will bring Janet to the Sept. meeting
6. Other business
- Steve: start using clubhouse in the summer?
- the toilet in the clubhouse is broken; there was a motion to leave the toilet broken (decommissioned): passed
- Darryl: suggested of the 4 meetings/year, we have 2 executive and 2 general; and at the general we attract members with speakers; the meetings not to coincide with our awards night
- Tom: our Executive positions are open for nominations at the Jan. meeting: this should be announced at the Sept. awards night
- Tom: 1st reading for proposed changes to our by-laws at the Jan. meeting; changes proposed are to delete by-law 7b) and to change by-law 8j) $100 to $200 and $500 to $1000
