General/Executive Meeting Minutes

Dave Martin, Mike Duncan, Ken York, Janet Melanson, Bill Ball
1. Old business: Tom C.
- By-law changes, 2nd reading, Article 7(b) and Article 8(j). 3rd reading. Voted. Passed unanimously.
- motion that proposed that elected executives receive a honorarium of $500/year or $1000/year for the 2 year term was withdrawn.
- motion that executive, including Board of Directors, and ramp volunteers receive a free launch ramp pass. Voted. Passed.
- the outstanding business of derby weigh in procedures regarding who and when a fish can be weighed in is being handled by the derby committee. Fish must be weighed in during “normal hours” for each weigh station, and a person cannot weigh in their own fish.
2. Election of Executive Officers: Tom
- Treasurer: Dave Martin (by acclamation after Tom declined his nomination)
- Secretary: Paul Paulin
- 2nd VP: Dave Morrison
- 1st VP: Darryl Day
- President: Mark Penner

3. Treasurer’s Report: Tom
- we have the 2015 year audit report. The small differences in numbers compared to our own are due to the differences in accounting methods used.
- total current assets: $67,400.97
- total assets: $88,390.88
- total equity: $ 87, 090.88
- total income: $53,278.08
- total expenses: $46,787.57
- net income: $6,241.05
4. Other Business:
- Mary: what is the proper procedure when a boater has a ramp pass with no name or trailer license? Received as a gift, bought at Peter’s. Complete the info on the Ramp Pass and put a note in the daily receipts for the treasurer.
5. Dagmar/ Janet: Kids Day Derby (May 7, 2016)
- letters and emails have been sent to previous donors
- Janet is in training by Dagmar
- thanks given to Dagmar for her many years and hours devoted to Kids Day
- last year we had 248 kids but we are hoping for 500 kids this year
- we need all club members to find and contact potential donors
- have contacted Matt at CTC
- Mark: thanked Dagmar and Bruce Miller for their dedicated volunteer service to the club.
6. 1st VP report: Darryl
Derby committee: Darryl, Mark, Mike, Steve, Dave
Dates for derbies in 2016:
Spring: Apr. 9 – June 11
Summer: June 18 – Aug. 13
Fall: Aug. 20 – Sept. 17
- tickets will be same prices as 2015
- online Paypal will be available, use our message board with a link to the Paypal site, mostly for use for daily tickets that we are losing revenue by not having online payment
- need separate account to keep track of money raised through Paypal
- derby budget: $19,000 for 2016
- same # of payouts as 2015 but the $50 prizes will increase to $100
- there is $30,000 in cash and prizes in the 3 derbies
- the Junior division will change to age 16 and under with no minimum weight for an entry
- there will be 4 Scotty 2116 downriggers available: 2 in members derbies, 1 early bird prize, and 1 draw prize at the prize presentation in Sept.
- on Saturday, Feb. 27 there will be a Salmon seminar and marketplace at the Holiday Inn; we will have a table at the marketplace
- Darryl thanked Mark for his leadership on the derby committee the last few years
- there will be an exciting speaker at our March meeting
7. Pen Project: Jerry
- there will be an update in a couple of weeks on the #’s for the pens in 2016
- need volunteers to monitor, load feed and clean the pens
- should be able to put the docks and pens in the water in 1 day because everything is on site
- it is a good time to get young family members involved
- Synchro Engineering
- the habits of the Chinook in Lake Ontario have changed in the last 2 years, where in the east end there has been earlier staging and stronger runs
- there is $1000 in the pen account which will pay for the rest of the external monitoring equipment
- there will be a tournament again this year run by Straightline Anglers to raise money for the pen project
- Mark thanked Jerry for his dedicated service to the pen project
