4. JM: President’s Report
•Pen rearing project: 2 pens are being built, one of which will be used this year. The cost of the pens is $500 for one and $400 for the second. Accounting for the pen project will by separate ledger entries, similar to the Kid’s Day Derby.
•Straight Line Anglers Club in Grimsby is running a “Feed the Fry” tournament on May 16 to raise money for our Pen Project. (see attached) We need volunteers to help out. If at least 30 boats enter the tournament, the pen project will receive $1,150. The more boats that enter, the more money is raised for the pen project.
•A trip is being planned to Ringwood hatchery on either the 19th or 26th of March. Contact JM if you want to go. We have 6 volunteers so far but we need 10-12. The fish that will be clipped are not specific to our pen but are part of the total pool of fish that our allotment will come from. 50,000 fish need to be clipped and quarantined for 2 weeks before being transported to pens.

•The end of March and beginning of April will be very busy times for SCGFA and many volunteers will be needed.
•On Mar. 30 there is a salmon seminar at the CAW hall. We need 2-3 volunteers to sell tickets to our derby as well as to sell tickets for the seminar, since seminar tickets will only be available at the door. We are expecting 200 people to attend the seminar. Volunteers will get free entry to the seminar (a $20 saving). Ivan Charrois is organizing the speakers for the seminar.
•On Apr. 4 we need volunteers to operate the BBQ at Peter’s Tackle Open House
•On April 4-5 we need volunteers to help at the Niagara Outdoor Show (JM & PG will be there)
•On Apr. 4 is the Peter Lee Memorial Shore Derby, we need volunteers to help

•Also has safari shirts for sale: 19 shirts available @ $29 each, with a minimum order of 6 shirts
6. JM won $28.50 in our 50/50 draw
7. Old business:
•Doug F.: handed in a copy of his receipt for $277.03 donation to the SCGFA for Restoration of Creek from Lighthouse Rd. & West Park Dr., dated June 13, 2003. He also provided a letter from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, addressed to the SCGFA, regarding stocking walleye at Port Dalhousie. (copies attached)
8. New business:
•Proposal by BM that Jim Arthur receive a lifetime membership to SCGFA. Passed
•Discussion regarding the awarding of lifetime memberships to Past Presidents. The by-laws do not specify that all Past Presidents receive automatic lifetime memberships.
•Dawn F. has accepted the position of Good & Welfare representative for the SCGFA. She will present at club meetings any illnesses or passing of members or past members.
•The Great Ontario Salmon Derby has offered each Pen project $1,000 in funding if 10 tickets are sold by March 22 where the purchaser mentions the pen project. This is a great way for us to get $1,000 for our Port Dalhousie pen project with little or no pain on our part. Since GOSD tickets are $100 each it basically means all money on these 10 tickets comes back to the project.
All you have to do is call Ann Meadow at 905-361-5243 between 8:30 and 4:30 and mention the Port Dalhousie pen project with your phone purchase of a ticket. You can also buy your ticket at the upcoming Toronto Sportsman show and again mention the Port Dalhousie pen project. So long as 10 people buy their tickets this way we will get $1,000 from Walter and the GOSD.
Please flip JM a quick email to let him know if you do this so he can keep track that we have our 10 tickets sold.
•Herb S.: generally hunting has been poor due to the high snow levels. Deer and turkeys are surviving the winter OK. There is a rural landowners meeting on Apr. 22. The Landowners Magazine will be made available at our next meeting. Will bring a hunter/trapper to the next meeting to discuss the topic of the MNR funding of the Conservation Authorities.
•Dan A.: there is discussion that the Navigable Waters Act that allows access through private property may be repealed. Our club membership to the OFAH will be submitted. Dan is accepting member’s applications to the OFAH.
•Dawn F.: Walt Groman had a heart attack and is slowly recovering.
