The recent delivery of an Ontario Municipal Board ruling in favour of a 17 story residential and commercial development in Port Dalhousie will certainly play a role in the future of the St. Catharines Game & Fish Association. While the club was advised it will not be impacted by the project, the longer view of our operations must consider all possible scenarios when investing funds and time into long term commitments.
Our current lease expires March 2011 and negotiations between now and then are sure to be protracted. Our actions and how we are perceived will weigh in during the next few years, an important period of growth and activities for the club.
While the annual Kid's Fishing Derby and Spring Salmon Derby are readily recognized, the new Pen Imprinting initiative has attracted significant interest from individuals, groups and business alike from the Golden Horseshoe area and beyond. This project and more like it will ensure the club's good health in years to come.
No different than with any other organization, an active membership is necessary to meet our goals. Cost to belong is minimal and supports the general operating expenses. Your time is priceless and must be balanced with family. Your volunteer contribution to the club need not strangle the balance. Identify an initiative or two that you are comfortable with and make a commitment. By participating you reduce the stress on other volunteers, allowing them to concentrate on those tasks that do not draw sufficient numbers of volunteers.
Your club, your choice, your resources, your future.
