This week we will put our efforts into tying the classic Blue Charm, a go-to fly for east coast anglers, that is certain to provide us with success as well. As with many patterns, the Charm is easily customized to local waters.
Ingredients required:
your favorite salmon hook size 2 to 6 (or substitute similar quality streamer hook)
black thread 8/0
small oval silver tinsel (substitute flat tinsel for tag & silver wire for rib)
yellow floss
Golden Pheasant Crest feather natural colour (substitute curved barbs from a large yellow quill feather)
black floss
bright blue hackle feather (substitute colours for customization to local waters)
natural squirrel tail (substitute colours for customization to local waters OR feather wings are acceptable)
I expect some interesting customization as tiers express their most successful colours.
