General/Executive Meeting Minutes
Oct. 23, 2017
Present: Mark P., Darryl D., Dave Morrison, Paul P., Mary S., George D., Steve J., Tom C., Mike D., Ken Y., Bill B., Jerry M.
Chaired by Mark
The 3 of 4 docks have been removed for the winter. Thanks to Gilbert and Rankin for their help.
Thanks also to: K. Penner for the lumber for the repairs to the docks and for the weedeater last year; to Dave. H., Bruce M. Chad T. and Randy H. for the time and expertise to repair the docks and to build the extension during the period of high water; to all the ramp volunteers, especially Mary and Don for all their weekend time; to Janet M. for the great job at the BBQ in August.
The new website: www.scgfa.ca will have a new photo gallery added this winter. The old website: Jerry M. is negotiating with Photobucket to allow our photos to be used without a charge. There will be a link to the old site from the new site in order to allow the continuation of the interactive board.
At the executive meeting there was a discussion to allow use of credit/debit cards at the ramp. If we had a smart phone and a card reader we could do it, but would require changes to our SCG&FA bank account: more will be available at the Jan. meeting. The cost would be minimal.
The old wooden sign at the end of Lighthouse road is in need of replacement or sprucing up. We have a 6’ x 3’ sign in the clubhouse that could be used. We must clear any changes with the city and bylaws. A big flat sign would be open to graffiti. If we repaint the present sign with glow paint, it should be sufficient.
We are looking at upgrading the washroom at the ramp. Randy has checked out the outdoor washrooms at the Yacht Club and will check out other available options and report back.
Jerry M.: A report has been posted on the old website regarding a USA study last year on the alewife population and future salmon stocking. The stocking levels for 2018 will continue at the 2017 levels, ie 20% below the 2016 levels.
Mark, Darryl and Tom: Nominations are open for all executive positions:
For President: Mark nominated and declined. Darryl nominated: accepted conditionally on someone else accepting the position of 1st VP.
For 1st VP: Steve J. nominated.
For 2nd VP: Randy Hudspith nominated.

Jim A.: DYC left their boat tied to our dock overnight, preventing anyone from using the ramp and dock.
Jerry: fly tying will start this coming Thursday.
Guest Speaker: Frank DiMarcantonio @niagarasportfishing shared his experience, tips and tricks on fishing for steelhead trout on the Niagara River, where he has been guiding since 1995. Frank was introduced by Darryl
