General Meeting Minutes
March 26, 2018
Present: Darryl Day, Mark Penner, Randy Hudspith, Ken York, Lyle Gayder, Dave Hill, Steve Jablonski, Janet Melanson, Jerry Mitrovich, Paul Paulin, Shane Thombs, Chad Thorne
1. Darryl introduced the new executive and board members
2. Randy - Ramp Update
- Thanked all that helped out on clean up day
- New washroom has been installed at the ramp
- A new platform for the access to the emergency dock has been built and installed
- New derby leaderboard has been created and installed (Dave Hill). Donated and sponsored by Dilts Piston Hydraulics
3. Darryl - Water Levels
- A bit lower currently than this time last year
- They are letting out as much water as they can at the control dams to control water levels
- Better prepared this year
4. Mark - Derbies
- Introduced spring derby and prize structure
- Summer derby and prize structure
- Scotty downrigger draw ticket for every derby ticket purchased
- Thanked all derby sponsors
- Both Grimsby and Peters tackle have spring sales coming up
- 3X3 derby will be back on the May long weekend
5. Shane - Walleye Event
- Asked for a show of hands of those that would be interested in a walleye event
- Joint venture with the strait line anglers club
- Possible date of Sept. 8
6. Janet - Kids Day
- Date has been changed to Sept. 15
- Still in planning stages
- Will be looking for volunteers
7. Jerry - Pen Project
- Pens are moving to the marina due to water levels and construction
- 60,000 fish expected this year
- Pen fish have a 2-1 survival ratio over direct stocked fish
- April 2 pens will be installed
- Fish will arrive April 5
- Target date to release the fry is May 4
- Pens to be removed on May 7
8. Jerry - Tackle Share
- Changing tackle boxes to a smaller more manageable size for this year
- $925 raised at Fort Erie outdoor show
- $785 raised at Ancaster swap meet
9. Jerry/Shane - Coho Head Collection
- If you harvest a coho salmon please donate the head for a tagging study
- Cut whole head off and place in plastic bag
- Label bag with date caught, location (nearest port) record any fin clips and an overall length of the fish
- Place in freezer until drop off
- Confirmed drop off points so far are St.Catharines Game & Fish Ramp, Grimsby Tackle and Peters Tackle
10. Darryl presented the lifetime members in attendance with their lifetime membership cards
11. Darryl/Jerry - GAMRU Donation
- Presentation of $10,000 donation
- Big novelty cheque and photo opportunity

- Jocelyn Leung of Angling Outfitters
13. Electronics Seminar
14. Early bird draw winner - Tim Versluis
- Ramp pass winner - Bill Ball
- 50/50 draw was valued at $250, winner donated the money back to the club!
