Greetings:
Some critical information about the upcoming municipal elections on Oct. 22:
Following the release of some misleading statistics from the Toronto Police Service falsely claiming that some 50% of crime guns are now domestically sourced (the actual number is about 14%) some politicians like Mayor John Tory of Toronto seized on this as an opportunity to ask the federal government to enact a ban on handguns and certain other firearms.
Despite the information being completely false the Trudeau Liberals have implemented an investigation to study the possibility of a nationwide firearm ban. As usual, law-abiding gun owners are being made the scapegoats for the government’s inability to bring under control the gangs, drug dealers and terrorists who are committing the crimes.
Like the good little lemmings that they are some local politicians like Mayor Walter Sendzik of St. Catharines have followed Tory’s lead and attempted to bring forward similar legislation locally.
With the municipal elections only two weeks away “The Sporting Clubs of Niagara” feels it is vitally important that we get information out to local firearm owners to let them know which politicians are prepared to sacrifice the activities and property of the people they represent in a futile attempt to stop the activities of criminals who will ignore any new law just as they already disregard current laws. These politicians care little about your rights and property and need to be defeated at the polls.
You will find attached to this email a partial list of local politicians running for election.
We ask you to do the following:
1. Review the current list to see which candidates you can or can’t count on to defend your rights and property and vote for them.
2. As it is impossible for us to know the position of every candidate for every position we ask that if you have any accurate information regarding the position on firearms of any candidates not currently listed that you forward it to us and hold we will update the information on the chart.
3. Contact your local candidates and ask them if they support a ban on the legally acquired and lawfully owned property of their constituents. The names of all candidates and their contact information can be found here: www.niagararegion.ca/government/council/municipal-election/municipal-candidates.aspx
When you get an answer let us know so we can update the chart.
4. Forward this email to everyone you know who would be affected by a firearm ban and ask them to do the same. The turnout for municipal elections is traditionally low so a few votes one way or the other can mean the difference between electing candidates who will defend your right to retain your property and pursue your lawful activities and those who are willing to sacrifice the things you enjoy you to achieve a meaningless goal that only penalizes the law-abiding.
Time is short so please do this ASAP!
Thank you for your assistance.
Yours truly,
The Executive
