Well March is here, and hopefully soon spring will be too!
With that we have a few news items.
· We are currently looking for a few new folks to join our team of launch ramp staff in Port Dalhousie this year. Anyone who may know someone interested in volunteering 5 hours, once a week or occasionally for vacation relief can email us for further info. There is some compensation provided. We also will be having a training/information meeting for all new & returning staff on Mon March 18, 7pm at the clubhouse. We are also looking for volunteers to help with our Chinook Salmon Pen Imprinting Project. You may also reply to his email if you are interested.
· Jerry has been busy with our Tackle Share program lately. As a reminder, donations of used outdoors equipment can be made at Grimsby Tackle and Peter's Tackle during regular business hours. He will be making his final collection from these stores on Monday March 18th.
· For those looking for used equipment, visit our booth at the HAMILTON BASSMASTERS 9th ANNUAL SWAP MEET Saturday March 23rd, from 9:00 until 2:00 at the Ancaster Fairgrounds. We will have a large assortment of terminal tackle, rods & reels from $1.00 and up, and unique items such as a vintage Sitex Graph and a Flame-Glo kerosene heater. Whether it's starter gear for the kids, spare outfits for the cottage, or a reel to cannibalize for parts to keep your favorite reel working, there is a good chance we can fill your needs. A special to start young anglers, we have a quantity of NEW & almost new Flambo single tray tackle boxes for $5.00 while they last! That's less than half retail with no tax.
· Weather pending on Sat March 23 we are planning to put in the launch ramp docks & do a spring cleanup of the property. We will begin at 730am & should be all done by 10am. Students are welcome to come & earn community service hours. Please bring work gloves & a rake/shovel. If necessary, March 30 will be the back up date.
· Spring Salmon Derby tickets are available now at Peters Tackle, Grimsby Tackle & here online: www.eventbrite.com/e/spring-salmon-derby-tickets-54246095532?aff=ebdssbeac remember all those who purchase by March 25 will qualify for the Early Bird Draw to win a set of rod holder trees from Great Lakes Tackle Worx/Moby Nick Charters.
· Finally our next General Meeting is Mon March 25 at the Rib Crib Restaurant , 106 Lakeport Road 7pm. We are very excited to have Capt Pete Alex from Vision Quest Sportfishing as our guest speaker. Doors open at 6pm. We encourage you to arrive early to get a good seat, & a bite to eat. Derby tickets, 3x3 tickets, memberships, and boat ramp passes will be available for sale.
That’s all for now!
