Dear Friends in the Shooting Community:
On Saturday, July 13 (rain date Aug 3) the Decew Gun Club will be hosting it's 4th "Shoot for Abbi" charity fundraiser in support of cystinosis research. To date the club has raised over $25,000 in contributions to find a cure for this disease.
We are hoping you can help make this year's event the most successful so far by volunteering to do some or all of the following:
1) POSTERS: Forward the attached poster to your friends and relatives and ask them to do the same. Place the posters in businesses that will allow them. It would also greatly assist us if people could put the poster on their personal Facebook pages and any other social media sites and encourage people to attend.
A downloadable poster is also available at this link. chrome-extension://oemmndcbldboiebfnladdacbdfmadadm/https://s3.amazonaws.com/media.cloversites.com/ae/aed9f0b7-fdc3-4672-a8cc-1d8cd6b4c2ff/documents/2019_Shoot_4_Abbi_8.5x14_EDIT2.pdf
2) RAFFLE PRIZE: This year as a grand prize we will be raffling off a $1400 Traeger Smoker BBQ so even people who are not interested in shooting will want to buy a ticket. If you are willing to help sell tickets on this great prize please contact Director John Rakich at: jpr@startmail.com
3) VOLUNTEERS: The past success of this event has been largely due to the great volunteer participation we have received from our members and other local shooters.
For a maximum of safety we require 8-10 firing line safety instructors. If you are not comfortable supervising the shooters we also require people to assist with the parking lot, registration, serving food, etc. We especially need help setting up and tearing down the tents and shelters.
Please note that you don't have to volunteer for the entire day. Even if you can help us out for a couple of hours that is of great assistance. For members who have children in high school or going into high school a part of the high school diploma requirement is that students complete 40 hours of community service. Destination Church is willing to sign off on some of those hours if volunteer's children come out and help on the day of the shoot.
4) DONATIONS: At the previous shoots we have had wonderful support from individuals and other local clubs in the form of donations. Some of the donated items included cases of water, pop and other food, items that were suitable as door prizes and also ammunition for the shooters.
5) RIFLES: We also need people to loan us 22 LR bolt action rifles, preferably with scopes to make hitting the target easier for the novice shooters.
6) SPREAD THE WORD: If you belong to other gun or conservation clubs can you please forward this information to them so they can post it on their bulletin boards and websites.
Not only does this shoot raise money for a very worthy cause but it also generates a great deal of excellent public relations for the shooting community. Past shoots have resulted in good media coverage and various local politicians have also attended with some already confirmed for this year so this is an opportunity to highlight the positive aspects of the sport.
Once again, if you can assist us in any capacity please contact Director John Rakich ASAP at: jpr@startmail.com and let him know you are willing to pitch in to make this event a huge success.
Thank you for your help.
