We are setting our budget at least a year in advance to ensure that we have the money in the bank before we spend it.

4. JM: Pen Imprint Project
- in 2010 we will be allocated 20,000 (oral confirmation only), which will require 2 pens; we have the 2nd pen but it needs to be repaired
- the teacher at Lakeport High School has lost his enthusiasm and passion to involve his students in the Pen Project and the repair of the Ringwood trailer.
- Straightline Angler Club will be running their “Feed the Fry” derby again in 2010 to raise funds for the project
- Chinook egg collection will commence Sept. 30. Jerry has a group of 6 going in 1 vehicle sometime between Oct. 5-10. Anyone interested in getting a 2nd group to go (George wants to go), chest waders are required: a few are available at the site
5. PCOC: since everyone now needs a Pleasure Craft Operator Card to operate a boat, Tom has agreed to run a training class at the clubhouse and to organize an exam afterward. Don has the sign-up sheet if you are interested. Cost estimate is $50/person.
6. DG: Fall Derby Prize Presentation
- in 2008 we had 71 entrants
- in 2009 we had 75 entrants + 2 boat entrants

2) Arnaldo Desousa: 31.62 lb.
3) Bowen Sandercock: 29.52 lb.
4) Barry Pringle: 27.80 lb.
5) Kevin Hampson: 26.45 lb.
6) Dave Hill: 26.02 lb.
The derby committee is looking at extending next year’s fall derby by 2 weeks, to allow shore anglers to better chance at the prizes.

- Ringwood trailer: allocate $2000 towards repairs

8. TC opened the floor to nominations for the 5 executive positions:
Nominations will also be taken at the Oct. meeting with the election at the Nov. meeting. Individuals who are nominated, and want to stand for the position, must express their desire to do so either orally or in writing if unable to attend the November election.
- 1st VP: Doug G.
- Secretary: Paul P.
- Treasurer: Tom C.
- President: Tom C.
- 2nd VP: Dave H.
- 1st VP: Bill B.

- Jerry B.
- Brad R.
9. New Business
- Dagmar: suggests sending out a newsletter to members that elections are being held this year. As well, changes to the by-laws can be proposed and voted on this year. Jerry M. agreed to write the newsletter with Paul writing a section on the nominations and elections; we will mail out the newsletter after Thanksgiving weekend.
- Andy has invited us to participate in the Spring Fishing & Boat Show at no charge at the International Centre in Mississauga (sometime in Feb. 2010)
- we should also have a booth at the Niagara Outdoor show like we did last year
- 50/50 draw winner: Frank Prokator: $44.
Jason P.: One Day Shore Trout Derbies (handout attached), 3rd annual.
- all proceeds go to Kids Day Derby
- organized by Jason and Brandon
- last year there were 147 entries over the 5 days with a donation of $475 towards Kids Day
- Dagmar: 1st Monday in Dec. (Dec. 7/09 @ 6pm) for the Christmas Pot Luck dinner: telephone Dagmar (905-687-6827) to let her know what you would like to bring. She will need help to set up before the dinner. A motion was made to budget $200 from the club for incidentals for the dinner: passed
- Dagmar: for Kids Day she is looking for ideas on how to celebrate our 80th anniversary. She plans on having a cake.
- Dagmar: Niagara Child and Youth Services will be having a fishing derby for handicap children (contact Dagmar @ 905-687-6827 for more info); Dagmar to make donation of some left over prizes to upcoming event
- Dagmar: the SCG&F members BBQ cost $319 this summer, but only about 50 of the 80 members who signed up actually showed up.
-Jim Arthur: the south emergency dock: DYC puts the dock in and out of the water but the SCG&F is responsible for putting the walkway to it, in and out of the water, not the City of St. Catharines or DYC. Rankin will supply a crane to help lift the walkway in and out. Dagmar thought that DYC had put the walkway in and out in the past. It is SCG&F responsibility to put the south emergency walkway in and out of the water but the north emergency walkway is the responsibility of the City of St. Catharines.
- George D.: wondered if we were going to have access to the water line. Tom will discuss with DYC.
- Bruce M.: will our outdoor toilet be left unlocked over the winter? Jerry M. said we would reassess over the fall and if no problems are foreseen we could try and leave unlocked.
- Bruce M.: What is our cutoff date for manning the ramp: Thanksgiving weekend
- Tom: proposing a volunteer recognition night: dinner at a restaurant (probably Mandarin), with spouses, in October or November; by invitation to volunteers who have contributed a lot of time to the club; Tom to make arrangements; include major sponsors (eg >$500 donations) such as pen imprint sponsors, kid’s day sponsors, Peter’s Tackle, Grimsby Tackle; weekday night; everyone would pay their own alcohol tab; budget: maximum $2000: passed; invitation list will probably be about 60: Tom, Jerry and Dagmar to organize).
