Well last year I hunted deer until the end of December until I got a deer. This year I went out twice. The first time was with my son after work and we stayed the 2 1/2 hours until legal shoot time ended and we walked through the woods in the dark to get home not seeing a deer. Saturday he couldn't get his backside out of bed so I went without him. I ended up leaving late and legal shoot time opened before I got out of the truck. I got to my son's stand, hung my bow on a peg and proceeded to tether my harness but before I could get hooked up I heard the deer. It walked slowly and looked dopey as if it had just risen from its sleep. I slowly lowered my tether, reached for my bow, found the vitals in my scope and pulled the trigger. I never even got a chance to sit down and 2h and 32 minutes into this years hunt I bagged my first buck. My son got a phone call and he had to get out of bed to help me drag it through the bush. I told him that was his deer had he been there and thanks for leaving his stand open for the old man But at least he gets venison again this winter Just a 2 pointer with only one rack but good eating none the less.
