Tuesday evening the initial stocking of 30,000 Chinook fry took place in Port Dalhousie. On Thursday night the fly tying group had a social barbecue before the break for open water angling. One of our younger participants was keen to get some basic instruction on fly casting, and down to the waters edge, fly rod in hand they head. Browns and rainbows were actively surface feeding so a small fly was secured to the leader should luck play a part in the exercise. While it didn't exactly tip the scales, Ryan's Chinook (fry) was a surprise to everyone. Yes, the adipose fin was clipped. I guess this is somewhat of a record for turnaround on Ringwood stocked Kings. If they are voracious at fry size, just imagine what that appetite will produce in 3 to 4 years. I think it is safe to say, two fry were hooked last night!
