I was compelled to post this reply on a letter to the St. Catharines Standard. Derek Whitlib, Secretary of the Port Colbourne & District Conservation Club, provides a clear positional statement for those of us that choose to hunt and fish to supplement our table fare. Far too many of us do not express ourselves until the end is inevitable. All of us can do our part by maintaining visibility of our sport and ensuring the public is correctly informed. Join a club. Attend events that promote your preferred outdoors sport. Support those businesses that provide you with the tools and supplies of your sport. Build bridges with landowners to maintain access. And communicate your preferences to all levels of government through clubs or as individuals. Complacency will be the downfall of all of our future interests. Cheers, Jerry
