Finally landed 1st Salmon of the year. It is nice to get the cobwebs out. Fished weighed 21.58 lbs, not enough for the derby but good for our cats. Lots of big marks on bottom from 150' - 180'. Only thing that fired was cut-bait. I think next time out after 11:30 a.m., I will just head for them lakers on bottom. Hope the wind stays home for all of you this weekend during the Pen.
T'il next week, Rob!

Nice start to the season Rob. I was out there today, but didn't make it until 10:00. Tried to pry one out of the bait inside but no takers. Worked to the deeper water and landed this year's first salmon, a teenager at 17lb 10 oz. Tagged and released for another angler to land and report. Got to get some "silver" bullets this weekend when my boys join me for the Fry tournament. Good luck on your next foray!

Seems to me the fish want something colorful out there. Flies and cutbait are just not enough with all that bait out there. Will try more with my best glow lures next time out and a few J-13's. I seen a long flock of them cormorants like you mentioned flying to shore while I was fishing on Friday. Somehow it made me want to take up hunting again. Well, wish you all the luck on fishing and little wind on Sunday. Hope you are adding scent/noise to them lures in the tournament.
Good Luck, Rob!
