Present: Doug G., Paul P., George D., Bill B., Jerry M., Jerry B., Charlie C., Jason P., John M.
1. Financial report provided by Tom C. and read by the secretary. (4 pages attached)
2. Derby report given by John M.
3. George: our yard was cleaned up in time for Kids Day. The empty/expired propane tank was taken to the hazardous waste depot. Ramp passes are selling very well this year.
4. Dagmar: Kids Day Summary (2 pages attached)
5. Doug: needs volunteers to help clean the clubhouse.
6. Doug: our 80th Anniversary hats are available for $15.
7. Doug: there is cake and refreshments available after the meeting to celebrate our 80th Anniversary.
8. Doug: the fallen tree was cut up and some of the wood removed but all of the leafy branches left behind.
9. Doug: speaker tonight will be Lorne Morley on carp fishing.
10.Pen Project: thanks to the volunteers who did the feeding and monitoring.
The fry averaged 8.99g on release (3.29g on arrival). We lost only 4 fry over the 4 week duration. Last year the fry averaged 3.6g when released.
We have a positive balance in our Pen Project account.
The Feed the Fry Tournament raised money for the project along with the raffle for the Sub-Troll. There were 45 registered boats this year. Changes for next year may include a BBQ and coffee as fundraisers.
Our 3rd pen is ready and Ringwood donated the net for it from money left over from the trailer restoration.
Pen clipping needs more volunteers.
The docks for the pens will be coming out of the water before the end of May, as required as part of our lease with the City.
The info-centre sign is in the works. There will be a concrete pad to stand on and read the info, it will be wired for electricity and the City will install a spotlight. We have asked the MNR for a subsidy since some of the info will be related to them.
11. Doug: DYC wants to use our sign at the Lighthouse Rd. intersection to advertise their yacht club. They say they will revamp and improve our sign.
Jerry: we should talk to the City to ensure what options are available to us in our lease. We should also discuss with Tom since he has put a lot of effort into fixing the sign.
12. Percy: some lakes are being stocked by helicopter.
13. 50/50 draw won by Bill B. for $28.
14. Our next Meeting is June 28 which will be the last meeting before our summer break.
15. Fundraiser for Paul Groves: at the Lazy Lizzard on May 29 @ 7pm. Cost is $20/person with all you can eat pizza and wings. The funds raised are to help pay for testing for Lyme Disease.
16. Presentation by Lorne Morley, from the Carp Anglers Group
Great carp primer presentation by Lorne Morley, Provincial Chairman of Carp Anglers Group. Plenty of information was shared about this much maligned species that is well respected in world competitive circles. Watch for postings online for an opportunity to learn more and participate in a friendly competition.
