Another year is well underway. In April 2011 we will be placing our pens to receive 30,000 Chinook fry for imprinting on the waters of Port Dalhousie. This will be the club's third year with this initiative and we should start to see some Kings from year one return in the fall. Thank you to Fern Stewart, Joe O'Donnell, Bruce Miller and Evan Bearss for giving of their time to make the trip to Ringwood with me. We managed to process over 130,000 fry.

Yes indeed Thank you boys for getting your hands dirty. It's great to see some guys who get off the keyboard once in awhile and participate on the front lines. From what I understand this might be your last year as Ringwood is closing and the MNR will take back responsibility of raising the Chinnies so glad to see you got a chance to do this before it disappeared. Those who thought they'd wait till next year will see you guys as the lucky ones.

Normandale will still rely on the "usual" volunteer participation, primarily for egg collection and fin clipping. For the SCG&F group, the the driving time should be about the same as going to Ringwood.
To date our Pen Imprint Project has been text book due to the few dedicated volunteers. Some early returning matures should start showing up this year, with 2012 being a marker event.

Oh I was under the impression MNR was taking all the operational work over. Good to hear there will still be some angler involvement.
