FLY TYING CHALLENGE for MARCH 3rd Tie a streamer fly of any type (bucktail, Matuka, etc.) on a size 6 or 4 hook that uses the following St. Catharines Game and Fish colors: black, white, green, and yellow or gold Only those colours are permitted in the construction, including any eye applications.
Conceal your fly in an unmarked envelope and bring or send it to Thursday's session. I will display the products of your efforts for your peers to vote on. Each tyer will have one vote to select the fly they consider the "best" based on originality, quality of construction and materials used. You cannot vote for your own creation.
In the event of a tie, a second vote will occur to select the winner. Should two finalists remained tied, a coin toss will determine the winner. The prize is a fillet knife AND BRAGGING RIGHTS ;D ;D ;D This should be fun considering all of the "outside the box" creations we have seen in the past two years.
Starting the night off March 3rd, Larry will show us how to tie the "Trout Gurgler", following which the "experienced" tiers will provide guidance on a "caddis/sedge" fly pattern. (Don't everyone volunteer at once.)
Until then, don't burn the midnight oil!
