FREE DRAW 2011 Pen Imprinting Project

Due to the very low water temperatures at our site, the pen stock will not be delivered this Sunday April 3rd as hoped . We are now scheduled to receive our fish April 10th. Confirmation of this date and ETA will be posted ASAP.

Meanwhile I would appreciate volunteers signing up for the four weeks required to care for the 30,000 penned fish.
Here is an outline of the daily tasks.

8:00 am
- load automatic feeders
- record surface and down temps
- record dissolved oxygen reading
- record observations such as moralities, fish behaviour
- some hand feeding is permitted with separate designated inventory

1:00 pm
- record surface and down temps
- record dissolved oxygen reading

- Monday and Thursday clean pen #1
- Tuesday and Friday clean pen #2
- Wednesday and Saturday clean pen #3

6:00 pm

You can volunteer for any combination and number of time slots, which may prove convenient for shift workers. Training will be provided as required.

With a minimum of four shifts, each shift will get you a ticket
for a free draw on an assortment of merchandise.

Water temperatures remain too low at several pen sites on Lake Ontario. We will postpone receiving our pen fry until Saturday April 16 or Sunday April 17. Confirmation will be posted by the preceding Thursday or Friday.

Meanwhile we still require volunteers to assist with the care of the fry.
