Inaugural Host a Veteran Fishing
Canada Day, July 1ST, 2011
The 1st Annual Canada Day "HOST A VETERAN FISHING DERBY" will be conducted concurrently from three Lake Ontario ports (Bronte/Oakville, Port Credit and Port Dalhousie/St Catharines) to salute the service of all of Canada's Veterans. The event brings focus to our Afghanistan Veterans and raises funds for our broken soldiers and their families by forwarding proceeds to Military Family Support Centres (MFRC's). Alternatively, you can host a veteran fishing anywhere you choose. All veterans registered have an equal opportunity of winning the grand prize. The derby will be followed by gatherings at the local legions of the three participating ports. The awards ceremony will be held at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park as part of Oakville's Canada Day afternoon festivities. In the evening there will be a tailgate party, "Heroes In Our Midst", at branch 486, the Bronte Legion at 6pm.
