General Meeting Minutes

1. Loss of Dave Rempel
- We regret to inform you that long time member of the St. Catharines Game & Fish Association, David Rempel passed away Tuesday. Our thoughts are with his family.
Details as follows:
REMPEL, David - At the St. Catharines General Hospital on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, David Rempel, aged 79 years. Beloved husband of Anne and dear father of James and Mary Rempel, Robert and Sandy Rempel, Peter Tom Rempel. Loved grandfather of Karley Rempel, Megan Rempel and Jared Rempel. Also survived by his brother Henry Rempel. He is predeceased by a brother Jacob Rempel. David founded and owned Rempel Refrigeration from 1971 for more than 25 years. The family will receive friends at the VINELAND CHAPEL of the TALLMAN FUNERAL HOMES, 3277 King St. on Friday evening 6-8:30 pm. They will receive friends again on Saturday, June 4th at Grace Mennonite Church, 677 Niagara St., St. Catharines from 9:30 - 10:45 am. and the Funeral Service will begin at 11 am. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Christian Benefit Shop or Silver Lake Camp would be appreciated by the family.
2. Financials (3 pages attached)
- we have a net loss to date of $14,889.29
- our book balance is about $21,000
- our roof of the clubhouse was replaced due to storm damage
- derby sales are down about $5,000 to date from last year
- ramp sales are down about $5,500 to date from last year
- the club will be subsidizing the derbies this year to provide prizes as advertised
- Host a Vet Derby: in St. Catharines no vets and no boats registered this year. Very few pins have sold
- the tackle share program for kids should be good to go sometime in July; JM sold some donated tackle for $200 that was not suited for the program
- WFN Fishing Community: Cogeco donated $1000 to our Kids Day derby as a result of our efforts in the WFN community fishing contest
- “Chinook Diaries” are still available to anyone who wants to record their catch for the benefit of studies at the MNR
3. Derby Sponsors
- JM thanked the companies who sponsored our fishing derbies and asked everyone who wins a sponsored prize to thank the sponsor by email or letter. The sponsors include:
Thundermist, Split King, Spoonmaster, A-Tom-Mik, Burns Tackle, Adrian Fleming (formerly of Grimsby Tackle), Henrys, Peters Tackle, Olsen-Sottile Insurance Brokers, Big Jon, Scotty, Pure Fishing, SCG&FA.
4. The prizes for the Spring Derby were handed out:
