While many anglers malign the Lake Trout, it provides others with the satisfaction of being a successful angler. In the cases of Ross Holland's 29.32 giant 2009 derby entry, and the more recent catch August 20th by Jason Watt estimated at 47 lbs, they were fish of a lifetime! The weight of Jason's catch, measuring 42" length and 30" in girth, is based on the formula from www.myoan.net/fishing/weight_calc.html. The MNR has responded to our report of Jason's catch, and they put the weight at 33 lbs based on their historical data of Lake Ontario Lake Trout. Still a magnificent specimen.A trophy fishery in Lake Ontario at our doorstep!

Now that is some HUGE Lakers. Every year these fish in Lake Ontario seem to add a pound of weight to the heaviest one caught since I first started to enjoy these fish. This year, 25lb'er boated, completely overshadowed the 19 lb'er I have mounted @ home.
