A great job by the MNR and club volunteers. Fry are 4.608g on average, which is about 30% larger than last year's. This is due to a warmer environment at Normandale which keeps their metabolism higher. Should the pen site temps continue to gradually warm over the next four weeks, the release weight will be significant!
Always good to see an old friend , namely Glen Gately with the MNR. Glen had delivered our 'Bows and Browns before taking a position at Hills Lake Hatchery near Earlton. Well he's back temporarily helping get those trout delivered once again.
We have a fantastic fishery at our doorstep thanks to the efforts of those that do not get appropriate recognition. In keeping with the distinctive mantra, "If you ate today, thank a farmer.", I propose that "if you caught a fish today, thank the MNR."
We are still in need of a few dependable volunteers. Check the schedule in the ramp office to see if a date and time works for you.

;D ;D 23,000 plus rainbows went in today . First of the direct stock Chinooks going in Friday at approx 1pm. Second drop to be scheduled 70,000 plus fish in total plus 30.000 pen smolts to be released in a week or so. That's a lot of angling opportunities gentlemen. A thank you to Glen Gately the MNR tanker operator and hatchery manager. Well done.
