Plan to attend our November 24th general meeting for a Chinook pen rearing presentation by Al Van Dusen. Al will draw on his experiences with pen rearing projects on the north shores of Lake Ontario, providing a wealth of information to assist the SCG&F with our potential project.
We welcome your feedback, suggestions and questions. Please contact us at st.catharinesgamefishasso@bellnet.ca .

There is talk about a pen rearing project in Port Dalhousie.
However before too much ink is spilled in vain, we'll need to get some concrete commitments from people in writing. Unless the MNR and project leaders know there will be steady monitoring and care of the pens, they won't consider it at all. Also if anyone has records of spring water temps in the harbor from last year, they're essential.
We'll need at least 15 signatures to commit to a spring project. There will likely be a speaker come to our General meeting on November 24th with details on what you need to know. you can still show interest anytime after the initial start so don't think you missed the boat.
This project is cramped for time for this season so If you really want to see it go, show your enthusiasm and commit sooner then later. Obviously anyone with experience with this sort of thing, club member or not, would be a welcome addition to the team.
Please call 905-937-6335 or email st.catharinesgamefishasso@bellnet.ca and leave a message and contact info if your ready to help the length of this season until project completion. It should be an interesting endeavor if it happens. If not, the work starts now for next year.

About 45 eager beavers showed up to get the skinny on the proposed project. Al did a great job with the presentation, supported by visual aids from Jason. Thanks to both for their hard work. Contact the club and get on the volunteer list, and invite others to volunteer or provide financial support. Once we have the necessary approvals things will move quickly. Projects of this nature will enhance OUR fishery to the benefit of ALL connected to servicing the sport. Thanks to all that attended.

We are one step closer to reality. The City of St. Catharines has approved the project subject to MNR approval. The ministry had to postpone our application review until after Christmas, but all indications are favorable.

We are one more step closer to reality with MNR approval for the project received yesterday. Jason and I participated in a conference call chaired by Marion Daniels. Marion heads up the Lake Ontario Management Unit for the MNR. Her support for the pen projects has a long term view to future and is very encouraging. Watch for updates as the project starts to take shape.
