My buddies got me roped into a ball tourney this WE but weather just looked too good!! Hatched a plan to meet Steve at Promenade first thing to squeeze a quick fish in between ball games! Despite a late Friday my Dad woke me up at 2:30 to make hall to Lady O! 3 hours later Steve, Dad and I are enjoying the calm sunny lake. Before we can enjoy the tranquility the lake offers we don't even get two rods in the water and the meat stick is getting some reel peel. The first fish set the tone for the day with pure spunk and for the next few hours we work our nuts off to keep rods in the water. The spread consisted of two riggers (meat and spoon), two divers pulling Atomik flies and two junk lines (spoon and fly). The long lines had 50-70 ft covered, divers 70-80 territory and riggers 70-100. Seemed every rod was a magnet but despite a few high teens the majority were 3-6 lbers. At 9 am it felt like noon and the sun poked behind a cloud as captain Steve guided us back west of our marks and the 100 ft rigger gets violated with our first over 20 of the day! To our delight this pattern continues for the next bit as both riggers and divers test their backbone with some decent size fish. A couple break offs kept us pondering what could of been as well. I managed to get some more good footage on the GoPro to mess with later as well but noted to myself to get a back up as it was full from previous outings!! Doh!
We all had a blast and there were several gut busting moments! We could not muster any derby board fish but we had fun and that's all that matters!
Here's a couple pics we shot off when hands weren't slimy or fish needing revived.
Thx again to the pressman for another memorable day with Dad
