I love the pen project and wish I had more time to help. Definately worthwhile as far as I'm concerned even though my time on the water was limited this year from the reports I read a lot of guys seemed to be into a good amount of returning Kings.
If the pen stocking date gets moved back to a weekend day I'm more then happy to come down and be bucket boy.

Not sure what needs to be discussed...
It seems like many enjoyed a good fall staging fishery off Port with the return of the inaugural 2009 Class of pen fish...
theory is it should only get better each year from here out with our increased #s and increasing size of the fry on release!
Big thanks to you & your core crew Norm, its very much appreciated!

;D ;D The 2013 project is underway with some new enhancements and capital expenditures . It's going to be a showpiece. Thanks to all involved. Nittro and the fry crew keep growing them bigger and bigger each season.

A update to the 2013 pen project . The tentative date for fry delivery is Tuesday April 9Th 12 noon approx , volunteers are welcome . Paul at the Normandale hatchery said the fry look like they are going to be bigger than last year given their currant growth rates . We will have 4 pens in the water along with additional dock space. The club would also like to thank Guy Citriggno ( black&tan) for yet another cash donation to the project. Good Carma hope you get the derby winner my friend .

I would like to echo Norm's thanks to Guy. Guy has supported the pen project financially a number of years, and is a great ambassador for sport fishing.

For those that missed the January meeting, the project received $800.00 from the MNR CFWIP Fund for last year's application. You should know that the government has reduced the 2013 budget to the CFWIP Fund, which assists numerous volunteer efforts focused on stream and habitat rehabilitation, in effect turning away free manpower for projects dependent on those grants.

A big thank you to all that lended a hand in prepping for the "Imprint Season" ..... Norm, Wally, Fern, Dave, Mike, Paul and new comer Lou (another grump LOL).
We still require some volunteers to assist with the care of the fry over the four weeks after their arrival next Tuesday around noon, which incidentally is another day to show up and lend a hand to get the fry into the pens! To volunteer for the fry care, please contact me by PM or email via this site and I will call you with the particulars.
At the moment it appears we will not require a large charter aircraft to wisk the volunteers to Vegas for their rewarding respite!
