General Meeting Minutes
Sept. 24, 2012
Present: George D., Paul P., Charlie C., Mary S., John M., Dagmar M., Norm C., Bruce M., Mark P.
1. George Deliman accepted the position of Acting President, made available when Jerry Mitrovich resigned as President. 1st VP, Jason Ciupak had declined the position.
- George gave a summary of Jerry’s accomplishments while President
- George acknowledged that he cannot fill all the roles that Jerry did within the club and that he would need the help of all Executive and club members to keep the club going.
- George summarized the use of the ramp this year and its importance as the major revenue source for the club
- George summarized our Bank & Book Balance as provided by Tom C. (4 pages, attached)
2. Fall Derby Prize Presentation:
Norm C. presented cheques in the following amounts to the 3 winners:
1. Mike Scrutton: $1,180.00
2. Darryl Day: $708.00
3. Dave Hill: $472.00
3. Jerry M.: - egg collection on the Credit River will start at the beginning of Oct. Jerry is going on Oct. 5 and sign up in advance is required in order to get clearance to the Kraft property
- Jerry is collecting Chinook Diaries and Atlantic Salmon samples to return to the MNR
- Jerry introduced our guest speaker, Kurt Oldenburg, MNR Fisheries Ecology Supervisor with the Lake Erie Management Unit
4. Guest Speaker: Kurt Oldenburg
- described the fishery in Lake Erie with respect to perch and walleye, with smaller emphasis on smallmouth bass, rainbow trout and Lake Trout
- Lake Erie is divided into 3 or 4 distinct basins when describing perch or walleye fishing
- there are large commercial and charter fishing operations on the lake, both with a major impact
5. Perch Derby
- Paul P. reported for Mark P. that Straightline Anglers was running a Perch Derby on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 out of the Crystal Beach boat launch.
- $40/boat for the 15 perch challenge
- $20/boat for the big fish challenge
- 6:30 am registration
