Looks like Dunville dropped off the list this year. That means you have to drive to Simcoe to drop off a hide. This is not bad news if the G&F can negotiate a drop off location with the City they may make an exception to the bilaws/planning policy to allow this. Are any St Catharines resident interested in speaking to the City? This could be a huge win for the SCGFA! Lets not disappear just yet ;D www.hatsforhides.com/depots.htm

Why was the program cancelled? Seems with all the deer harvested in Niagara this would be a worthwhile program, or did hunters not particiapte?

The creators of this program are from Niagara but were shut down because of complaints by neighbours. The program is still running province wide but the closest we had was Dunnville. We had one that opened in Ridgeway last year but Dunnville had it shut down because the rules state depots have to be 50 km's apart and the Ridgeway depot was only 48. Now Dunnville doesn't appear to be on the list so perhaps that opens the door.
However with that said there are city bylaws or policies that prevent this in many municipalities but exceptions can always be made. These Bylaws and policies generally protect the neighbourhood but if a good location can be found away from residential housing such as the G&F building they may allow it with some discussion.
Worth a try?
