Another successful Kids Day Fishing Derby is history thanks to Dagmar Miller, the dependable team of volunteers and generosity of individuals and local business. While the final letters of recognition are being penned Dagmar is already planning for next year’s event. Her enthusiasm and devotion to the “Kids” is boundless and appreciated by everyone. The focus now is on the last half of the club’s Spring Salmon Derby. In conjunction with the new $500 a day salmon derby, the warming weather and a building bite on the south shore is raising the expectations of all participants. Cash prizes are drawing anglers from the distant areas of London, Brantford, Guelph and Owen Sound to name but a few. Of particular note, visitors from Quebec are more numerous this year. Some have come to compete in the Scotty or are derby participants while vacationing here. Check derby results at scgameandfish.net/tournaments.html and www.salmonmastersderby.com/index.php . Good luck to all anglers!
